As the officially recognised local chapter of the international IAIM body, we are the sole authority in the region permitted to facilitate the Vimala McClure curriculum and certify instructors under the global IAIM banner.

2. Intellectual Property and Copyright Protections

All intellectual property displayed on this site, including the “Language of Touch” curriculum, proprietary massage sequences, and the IAIM logo, is protected by international copyright laws and Singapore’s Intellectual Property Office (IPOS) regulations.

  • Usage Restrictions: No part of the IAIM training manuals, handouts, or website content may be reproduced, stored in a retrieval system, or transmitted in any form without prior written permission from the IAIM Singapore Executive Committee.

4. Liability and Scope of Service

IAIM Singapore acts as a coordinating body for certified instructors. We do not assume liability for the individual business practices of independent CIMIs.

1. Professional Philosophy: The Baby-Led Mandate

The “baby-led” approach is not just a technique; it is a fundamental right of the infant.

  • Honouring States of Consciousness: Instructors must teach parents to recognize and respect the “Quiet Alert” state, ensuring massage only occurs when the baby is receptive.

  • The Permission Ritual: Every session must begin with the parent asking for the infant’s permission, fostering a culture of bodily autonomy from birth.

  • Responsive Parenting: Instructors are ethically bound to guide parents to stop the massage immediately if the infant shows signs of disengagement or distress.

2. The Facilitator’s Boundary: Hands-Off Education

To protect the sanctity of the parent-infant bond, IAIM instructors strictly adhere to a “hands-off” policy.

  • The Demonstration Doll: Instructors must only perform massage strokes on a professional demonstration doll.

  • Empowerment over Execution: Our role is to teach the caregiver how to massage their own baby, ensuring the oxytocin release and bonding benefits remain exclusively within the family unit.

3. Professional Competence and Integrity

Maintaining the “Gold Standard” of education requires unwavering commitment to professional excellence.

  • Certification Maintenance: Instructors must complete all international requirements to remain “Certified” and must participate in regular peer reviews or refresher sessions as dictated by the Singapore Committee.

In our quest to grow the community, we remain honest and transparent.

  • No False Promises: Marketing materials must never guarantee “cures” for medical conditions, though they may highlight the statistically significant benefits for sleep and relief.

  • Authenticity: Testimonials must be genuine and used only with the explicit, written permission of the parent.

The purpose of the International Association of Infant Massage is to promote nurturing touch and communication, through training, education and research so that parents, caregivers and children are loved, valued and respected throughout the world community.
