5-Week Baby Massage Course | IAIM Singapore Program Guide

Learning the Art of Communication and Connection

Baby-Led Learning Approach

Respectful Bonding

Our flagship programme is designed as a five-week course to honour the natural pace of your baby’s development. Unlike one-off workshops, this extended format allows both you and your infant to gradually familiarise yourselves with the massage strokes, ensuring that the experience is never rushed or overwhelming. We prioritise the "cues" your baby gives, teaching you when to massage and, more importantly, when to stop and simply hold your child.
During these sessions, you will join a supportive community of parents to explore the transformative power of touch. Guided by a certified instructor, you will move beyond the physical strokes to understand the physiological and emotional benefits that massage provides. From relieving colic to improving sleep patterns, this course offers practical tools that foster a lifetime of secure attachment and mutual respect between you and your little one.

Your Weekly Learning Path

Each week, we introduce a new part of the body, building upon previous lessons until you are confident in a full-body massage routine. This cumulative approach ensures that your baby becomes comfortable with the sensation of purposeful touch.
Week 1: Legs and Feet

We begin with the legs, as they are generally less sensitive. You will learn strokes to improve circulation and coordination.

Week 2: Tummy Relief

This session focuses on specific techniques to alleviate gas, colic, and constipation, providing your baby with much-needed digestive comfort.

Week 3: Chest and Arms

Discover how to open the chest area for better breathing while strengthening the bond through eye contact and rhythmic arm strokes.

Week 4: Facial Soothing

Learn gentle techniques to release tension in the jaw and brow, often caused by teething, crying, or over-stimulation during the day.

Week 5: Back and Review

We conclude with calming back strokes and a full review of the curriculum, ensuring you feel confident practicing at home.

The Graduate Bonus

Following the course, you will have the skills to adapt massage strokes as your baby grows into a toddler and beyond.

Common Questions About Our Programme

Understanding the Journey

We have compiled the following answers to help you understand the practicalities and philosophy of our classes, ensuring you feel fully prepared to begin your five-week path to deeper connection.
The programme is specifically designed for infants from birth up to twelve months of age. We recommend starting as early as you feel comfortable leaving the house, as the strokes can be adapted for newborns. For older babies who are already crawling, our instructors will teach you how to follow their movement and adapt the massage to their newfound mobility.
In an IAIM class, your baby is the boss. We fully expect babies to cry, sleep, or need feeding during the session. Our classes are "baby-led," meaning you are encouraged to attend to your baby's needs immediately. If your baby is not in the mood for massage, you can practice the strokes on a demo doll or simply observe, so you are ready to try again at home when your baby is relaxed.
Babies—and parents—need time to learn a new language of touch. The five-week structure allows us to introduce the curriculum gradually, preventing over-stimulation for the baby. It also gives you time to practice at home between sessions, bring back your questions, and build a supportive bond with the other parents in your group.
We provide high-quality, cold-pressed organic vegetable oil that is safe for your baby’s skin and edible (in case they put their hands in their mouth). You will also receive detailed instructional handouts. We suggest you bring a small cushion or a familiar towel from home so your baby feels comfortable and recognises the scent of their own environment.
We highly encourage family involvement. While one person usually performs the massage to maintain a consistent "dialogue" with the baby during the session, a second parent or caregiver is welcome to observe and learn. This ensures that the nurturing touch techniques can be integrated into the baby's daily routine by everyone in the household.
Yes, specifically during Week 2, we focus on a "Colic Routine" designed to stimulate the digestive system and release trapped gas. These techniques are evidence-based and have been shown to provide significant relief for babies suffering from digestive discomfort, provided the strokes are practiced regularly and following the baby's cues.
